How To Clearly Define Your Goals

Hey there! Welcome back! Get more focus...

A while back, I had a bolt of inspiration to create a mega-affiliate sales site for a well known marketing and law of attraction guru name Joe Vitale.

I got sidetracked due to negative self-talk which led to a lack of confidence and funding. Not to mention I’m not the best website coder/programmer in existence…but I’m learning.

Well things are starting to look up, my confidence has returned and I’m now getting around to building this site (among other things). So when I first started this, I put together this little ‘worksheet’ based on watching an extremely awesome video by “The Maverick Marketer” himself: Mr. Craig Perrine over on Pat O’Bryan’s “Your Portable Empire University” (of which I am a member).

I thought ‘d share as a way to help anyone who is considering a project of their own.

Anyways, here it is…

———————————————————————

Project name: www.everythingjoevitale.com

Goal: A complete promotional fan club website with shopping cart selling and promoting every Joe Vitale product that exists now and going forward.

Sub goals: Blog and forum with an “Insiders club”. JV with Joe to do exclusive content/events/products/offers for list and members. Contests. Backstage pass. Consulting/coaching. Ask Joe. Continue to define USP more clearly.

Why do I want this (what’s my story)?

It will give me a chance to be self-expressive, an outlet for my passion to be creative.
I love creating, engineering and implementing things of my own design. I love process improvement and applying innovation to existing constructs. I love improving things. I’m Japanese (lol). Extra income for my family and future projects. I want to get success under my belt so that I can become a solutions provider to people who were like me- stuck in the soul-sucking corporate world. To prove that there’s hope for people with things like alcoholism/drug abuse (and all that that entails) in their pasts.

Freedom. I’m tired of the 40/40/40 plan and it pisses me off that my advancement is limited others; that I need “permission” to advance. Time and money to take my family on vacations. Time and money to work on my music projects, my race cars, my gaming PC’s and whatever else I want to!

What 5 results that I will get when this is complete?

1. When I finish it, Joe has agreed to look at the site, which should lead other things.
2. I can start marketing the site.
3. I can begin to work on future plans and future USP for the site.
4. I can begin list building from this site.
5. I can start working on SEO stuff.

What are the top 10 obstacles that are blocking me from getting this done?

1. Finding and hiring a web designer.
2.. Figuring out how the site will interact with the affiliate programs.
3. Making tentative final decisions on the layout and feel of the site.
4. Setting up hosting (1shoppingcart)?
5. Getting graphic artwork completed that fits the vision I have.
6. Developing exclusive flagship content that fits the USP of the site.
7. Securing project development guidance (Pat/YPEU)
8. Money.
9. Time management.
10. Daily life roadblocks and distractions and being able to maintaining focus.

Sub/secondary obstacles.

1. Find out if I need a DBA/EIN for my marketing company.
2. Business plan?
3. Funding/cost analysis.
4. Bookkeeping/CPA/tax services.
5. Legal stuff.
6. Work on my writing, marketing and creating in my “own voice”.
7. Develop my style (Hawaiian shirt thing).
8. Finding out what the next steps are.

List 10 strategies for overcoming these obstacles.

1. Secure venture capital.
2. Secure project development/launch guidance; use YPEU to the full.
3. Search for/consult/hire web designer (in progress).
4. Research/hire hosting service. (what bandwidth/capabilities does a site like this need?).
5. Work with designer to develop site mapping/layout/interactions/other stuff (Joomla).
6. Research sites on the web to discover what flow/feel I want.
7. Gather artwork, photos and work on and complete them.
8. ?
9. ?
10. ???

Thoughts/Questions to ask:

I need to know if I’m asking the right questions and whether or not the goals and information on this worksheet are correct. I may not be asking the right questions because I may not know enough to know what I need to ask about.

1. What can I bring to the table that Joe can only get from me?

2. What is my USP on this?

3. Why would Joe want to get involved with this project at some point?

So from here, you can begin working out the details by using it as a blueprint for success.

So there you have it: a quick start goal-setting and getting clear formula.

Feel free to use it.

Blessings,

Carl
